Service Project: VA Pantry

An ongoing service project to help area Veterans has been established by the Chapter. The VA Food Pantry has been established to assist Veterans with food insecurities in the Northern Indiana area. Food items can be donated to the VA Pantry by dropping them off at the Voluntary Service Office, Building 1, Room 255 at 2121 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, IN. Be sure the VA knows your donation is from Anthony Halberstadt Chapter, SAR. The VA Food Pantry is accepting the items listed below:

  • Boxed macaroni & cheese
  • Boxed potato dishes (au gratin, mashed, etc.)
  • Boxed spaghetti/ pasta and sauce
  • Canned/foil pack Tuna, Salmon, Chicken or Beef
  • Canned chili or stew
  • Canned fruit (peaches. pears, etc.)
  • Canned mixed vegetables
  • Canned pasta (SpaghettiOs, ravioli, etc.)
  • Cereals/ oatmeal
  • Granola or Nutria-grain Bars
  • Hygiene items
  • Manual can openers
  • Napkins
  • paper/ Styrofoam plates and bowls
  • Pasta
  • Pasta side dishes (Knorr’s, etc.)
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Plastic utensils
  • Pork and Beans
  • Pudding packs or canned pudding (shelf stable)
  • Rice side dishes (Knorr’s/ Rice-a-Roni/ Uncle Ben’s, etc.)
  • Reusable grocery bags
  • Tuna or Chicken Helper or Hamburger Helper
