Honoring the Life and Service of John Alexander

In Remembrance: Compatriot John Elbert Alexander II (1928–2025)

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved compatriot, John Elbert Alexander II, on July 10, 2025, at the age of 97. John lived a life marked by faith, service, and unwavering patriotism, and we honor his extraordinary contributions to our chapter, community, and country.

A Life of Service and Dedication

John joined the Sons of the American Revolution in February of 1999, proudly tracing his lineage to nine Revolutionary War patriots: John Alexander Jr., David Beard, Ingram Nunn, George Helm, Robert Allen, William Gleaves, Joseph Nunn, John Royalty, and Peter Gearhart.

For 27 years, he was an active and engaged member of the Anthony Halberstadt Chapter, IN SAR, serving as Chapter Chaplain from 2018 to 2022. Many of us will fondly remember his thoughtful prayers and heartfelt devotion to our membership.

Beyond the SAR, John’s life reflected an enduring commitment to service. He was actively involved in Rotary International, the Senior Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Gideons International, the Allen County Jail Chaplaincy, the Drug and Alcohol Consortium (DAC), and the Elks.

Professional Achievements

John was a 1953 graduate of Tri-State (now Trine) University. His career began with General Electric before moving into industrial sales with National Mill Supply. In 1975, he was promoted to manage the Industrial Division. Ten years later, in 1985, he founded American Sealants Inc., where he served until his retirement in 2002.

A Life Well-Lived

John found joy in travel, whether on cruises, bus excursions, or scenic road trips. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, faithfully following his team and cheering them on through countless seasons. Above all, John cherished time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his children Paul (Jenny) and Catherine; daughter-in-law Laurel; step-sons Brett and Kent; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who carry forward his legacy of faith, service, and patriotism.

Our Gratitude and Farewell

John embodied the SAR’s guiding principles of Patriotism, Duty, and Lineage. His steadfast devotion to preserving our nation’s founding ideals will not be forgotten. The Anthony Halberstadt Chapter will remember him not only for his distinguished service but for his kindness, humility, and the light of faith he shared with all who knew him.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and offer our prayers for comfort and peace. John’s life is an inspiration, and we are grateful to have called him our compatriot and friend.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or the Allen County Jail Chaplaincy.
